Dan Matthews and Leslie Gratton
BIO

Not your conventional couple! Leslie has her Bachelor of Arts and has worked in the Customer Service business for over 10 years providing technical support. Dan worked in Meteorology for 35 years before retiring in 1998. They met in Saskatoon and toured East and West, settling in the Canadian Maritimes. Leslie takes precipitation readings and sends them into the CoCoRaHS network on the rare occasions that Dan is out of town.

During the winter of 2014 - 2015, Dan was recovering from abdominal surgery and Leslie was in charge of snow clearing (actually he was suffering from an overdose of coconut macaroons as the surgery was a year before - Leslie). This proved particularly challenging as they had two severe storms that dumped 50+cm (20 in) of snow and brought hurricane strength winds with them. (Remember you are not a real woman in these parts until you shave your legs with an axe - Leslie). Between the two of them, they managed to maintain their weather watch (and sense of humor) despite the adverse conditions. As you can clearly see in CROWD & CLOUD Episode 1, this dynamic duo enjoy sharing activities and experiences, feeling that citizen science is a valuable contribution to providing good science.
